NIGERIA'S FIRST LADY AND WOMEN PDP RALLIES.

The First lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Jonathan, after the postponement of the previously scheduled February election, has been  going round in almost all the states of the federation aggressively campaigning and canvassing using the Women PDP rallies, for the re-election of her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28, 2015 election.

She goes with the entourage of such women as wife of senate president, Helen Mark, PDP National women leader, Kema chikwe and others. Ofcourse some Nollywood actresses like Rita Edochie & co, accompany her.

My gist here anyway is how entertaining these rallies have become by just watching the First lady dish out her vocabularies and insults on the members of the opposition party. Her never- ending- slow speech once she mounts the podium, leaves the expression of tiredness and diplomatic disgust on the faces of the so called women supporting her as they stand behind her on those stages. One of the observations is Mrs Helen Mark, who stylishly disappears from the stage once the first lady begins her speech and sometimes re-appears when she eventually rounds up her long talk. She, Helen Mark, in particular, can not stand the first lady's stance and lack of decorum. Madam Mark, it shows on your face o. The likes of Dr Kema Chikwe diplomatically covers up her own expressions and so energetically goes with the flow regardless of how the first lady presents herself at these rallies....after all she, Kema, is the PDP National Women leader and so the chief co-ordinator of the rallies. But surprisingly, she just could not hide it in their last rally done in Edo state on Saturday, March 14
, 2015. At a point she got so tired of the long and slow speech of the First Lady.

I keep wondering why the Vice President's wife is not part of these rallies. How come she is left out in all of the drama, despite the fact that the struggle is for the President and her own husband, Arc Namadi Sambo. May be there is eventually no love lost between some factions in this camp and they try to conceal it.

  1. I am not a Nigerian but it's degrading to see the first lady of a nation proudly exhibit her ignorance in public like the way she does and in int'l community. Let her curtail her appearances and take some lessons before showing up ! From Mhlapo Betty.
