PRESIDENT MUGABE OF ZIMBABWE NOW THE NEW A.U CHAIRMAN.

The 90 year-old Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe was today, January, 30, 2015 named the new chairman of the African Union, A.U. He took over from President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania. The ceremony was held at the AU secretariat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in the early hours of today. President Mugabe thanked the leaders for honoring him with the position and promised to live up to the responsibility expected of him as the new Chairman of the union.

TOMPOLO AND OTHER NIGER DELTA MILITANTS STILL THREATEN AMIDST CALL FOR THEIR ARREST

An ex-militant and gang leader in the Niger delta region of Nigerian has been threatening to shut down the oil pipeline from which the country enjoys crude oil resources, if President Goodluck Jonathan is not re-elected after the February 14 election.

He said they are ready to cause mayhem and engage in war against the entire nation if the president who is from Niger delta continues to be attacked during his campaigns in the northern states and worst still if he is not re-elected.

Former Defence Minister, Gen theophilus Danjuma earlier on called for Tompolo and His group's arrest for making such inciting utterances.

This did not deter Tompolo...instead he reiterated his stance the more, back lashing Gen Danjuma and other critics.

PRESIDENT GOODLUCK JONATHAN MOURNS THE DEATH OF KING ABDULLAH OF SAUDI ARABIA.

The Nigerian president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan has today, 23rd of January, 2015 joined other world leaders to condole with the new King of Saudi Arabia, King Salman Ibn Abdulaziz over the death of his predecessor , Late King Abdullah Ibn Abdulaziz.

President Goodluck Jonathan also extended his condolence to the people of Saudi Arabia. He noted that their former King would always be remembered for entrenching the process of progressive reform in Saudi Arabia.

He assured the new King, King Salman Ibn Abdulaziz of sustaining the cordial and mutually beneficial relations between Nigeria his country and Saudi Arabia.

THE PRINCIPAL OF KATSINA GOVT.COLLEGE RECEIVES DEATH THREATS AFTER THE RELEASE OF GEN.BUHARI'S RESULT.

The Principal of the alma mater of General Buhari, Mallam Isyaku Bello has been receiving messages and warnings threatening his life by unknown persons. This is coming 24 hours after he released the statement of result of the APC Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

AND THE FUSS ABOUT GEN. BUHARI'S CERTIFICATE STILL GOES ON.

The Nigerian military has denied having possession of  the West African School certificate, WASC and other records of the APC Presidential candidate, Gen Muhammadu Buhari. He earlier claimed the military had it and that he graduated in 1961.

In clarifying the issue raised by the army, the General requested from his alma mater to produce his credential which he claimed he lost while under detention during the Gen. Babangida regime. The Principal of the school now called Katsina government college obeyed and what he issued as the general's statement of result became so controversial that the opposition party, the PDP accused Gen Buhari of perjury and falsity, demanding that he stepped down from the race to hand himself over to the nearest police station.

Ever since then the people have been waiting for the general to further speak on these allegations against the authenticity of his academic qualifications.

Meanwhile some of his class mates such as the former president of Nigeria court of Appeal, Justice Umaru Abdullahi and others have come out openly to attest that they sat for the WASC Exam with the general. The U.S war college which he also claimed he attended has equally confirmed he did so.

HOW ASARI DOKUBO ALMOST MESSED HIMSELF UP ON TV MORNING SHOW

The controversial political figure of the Ijaw ethnic group in Niger delta region of Nigeria which is rich in crude oil, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, was today, 20 January, 2015 interviewed in the morning show of Silverbird Television in Lagos.

Apart from his usual radical talks when defending President Jonathan, where he threatens, warns, castigates and insults those in opposition, he almost burst out of anger in a heated argument during TODAY ON STV, a TV morning show of Silverbird television.

He threatened that he is ready to retaliate any violent action against his people as he claimed not to be a Nigerian but an Ijaw man. He  also insulted former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying that he shamelessly sleeps with the wives of his male children and co.

KUDOS AND KNOCKS SINCE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA REDUCED FUEL PRICE.

Ever since the federal government of Nigeria reduced the fuel price from N97 per litre to N87 on midnight of Sunday, 18th of January, 2015, there has been a trail of criticisms as well as commendations coming from various persons in and out of the country.

Many have seen this rather seemingly sudden action of the incumbent administration as a show of desperation to win back more votes supposedly being lost on daily basis to the opposition party.

On the other hand, some see this as a tip of the iceberg for better things to come if  President Jonathan is re-elected this year.

Well, let us keep our fingers crossed and pray for the best.

POPULAR ACTOR, MUNA OBIEKWE, PASSES ON.

The Veteran and handsome Nollywood actor,  Munachi Obiekwe gave up the ghost in one of the hospitals in Lagos on  Sunday afternoon the 18th of January, 2015 after kidney failure battle.

His Colleagues in the  industry such as Uche Rodriguez née Jumbo, Mike Ezuronye and others have long expressed their heart-felt sympathies and paid tribute to him.

He is survived by his wife and one child. May his soul rest in peace.

TENS OF THOUSANDS SEE OFF CHADIAN TROOPS TO FIGHT BOKO HARAM IN NIGERIA AND CAMEROON

Today, January 17, thousands of people joined a march in N'Djamena in Chad to see off Chadian troops who were heading to Nigeria and Cameroon to fight tooth and nail with the deadly Islamist group-Boko haram.

The demonstrators waved their national flag and chanted:"kick the evil forces out of our territory" in French and Arabic. The march is meant to send a strong signal and warning to Boko haram.

The Chadian President in a speech read by the  speaker of parliament, said that the new deployment of these troops is to recapture Baga in Borno state of Nigeria after the massacre.

However it is so surprising that Nigeria has shown a lukewarm support and laicadaisical manner to this Chadian mission.

When approached, the Nigeria Military spokesman, Chris Olukolade replied thus: "All support for our operations will be welcome but it must conform with our own on-going operations".

NIGERIA MARKS HER 2015 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY

As Nigeria marked her 2015 Armed forces Remembrance Day today, 15 January, ceremonies were held across the country where there were march pasts by the military and laying of wreath at the grave of  soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the peace and unity of the country.

In Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan led government officials who included Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate president David Mark and others, to lay wreaths at the tomb of soldiers.

A SENSITIZATION WORKSHOP ON NON-VIOLENCE DURING THE ELECTIONS IS ON GOING NOW IN ABUJA NIGERIA

At or about now, a sensitization programme on non violence  during the 2015 general elections  is taking place in Abuja.

It has in attendance the president Goodluck Jonathan, the former head of state and APC presidential Candidate, Gen Buhari, some governors such as Gov Rotimi Amechi, the international community delegates, the chairman of the workshop, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Mr koffi Annan, INEC Chairman, Prof Jega, the Candidates of the other political parties, elder statesmen and media stakeholders.

After delivering their speeches, all the Political parties candidates are expected to sign an accord on allowing a violence-free election. More stories will unfold after this event.

ELECTIONS CAN NOT HOLD IN TROUBLED PARTS OF NORTH EAST ZONE OF NIGERIA -Jega

The Independent National Electoral Commission's Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega has finally opened up in expressing his fears about holding elections in all parts of the 3 troubled states of the north east zone of Nigeria.

He said in Abuja on Monday, 12th January, 2015 that elections might not hold in some parts of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States unless the security situation improves in those areas.

GEN. MUHAMMADU BUHARI AND HIS TEAM VISIT FORMER PRESIDENT OBASANJO.

The All Progressive Congress party held a campaign rally today, 13th January, 2015 in Abeokuta, Ogun state where Former President Olusegun Obasanjo is a son of the soil.

After the campaign, GMB and his team paid former President Obasanjo a visit in his home. President Goodluck Jonathan earlier on was in close door peace meeting with Obasanjo, accompanied by two well known pastors- Pastors Adeboye of RCCG and Oyedepo of Winners chapel.

Obasanjo told Gen Buhari that he will support the best candidate irrespective of Party.

It is indeed an unforgettable moment in the life of the Real Madrid star as he takes home for the third time, the FIFA Ballon D'or championship award cup for 2014.

BAGA MASSACRE AND THE CHARLIE HEBDO ATTACK

Baga town in Borno state of Nigeria experienced on January, 2 2015, what the world described as the "deadliest" massacre in the history of Boko haram attacks, bringing the death toll within the range of hundreds to as many as 2,000 people littered in bushes and streets.

Within the same week, Paris in France got hit by Islamist gunmen who attacked a weekly satirical tabloid house- Charlie Hebdo for satirizing Prophet Mohammed and killed up to 17 people including a police woman, some editors and cartoonists working for Charlie Hebdo plus other victims in a nearby supermarket where the gunmen shot sporadically.

And the outcome ? While French troops embarked on intensive search to fish out more terrorists in their hiding places after the death of three members of the Charlie Hebdo attackers, Nigerian Military is busy arguing over the death toll reports, saying 150 persons were killed as against the 2,000 reported.

So we plead that world leaders, United Nations and co should come to the aid of Nigeria in fighting insurgency. The more than one million people solidarity march done in Paris on Sunday, 11th January to say NO to terrorism ought to be repeated in Nigeria. Enough is enough !

ETHIOPIAN AIRWAYS CARGO PLANE CRASH-LANDS IN GHANA

A Boeing 737-400 cargo plane operated by Ethiopian Airlines sustained substantial damage in a runway excursion on landing at Accra-Kotoka Airport (ACC) Ghana according to the report filed in by the Aviation safety Network.

The 3 -crew member occupants of the plane have been taken to hospital for proper examination and treatment.

GENERAL BUHARI CAMPAIGN TEAM HEADS TO BAYELSA TODAY

As President Goodluck Jonathan is in Tafawa Balewa square in Lagos today, kicking off his re-election campaign to cover south west region of Nigeria, his counterpart in the All Progressive Congress APC Party, General Muhammadu Buhari  takes his own next campaign to Bayelsa State, the home sate of the President himself.

This is the fourth location for the Buhari-APC presidential campaign since this week. He has covered Rivers, Delta and Akwa ibom states.

Despite the ugly encounter some of his supporters had on their way to Rivers state for the Rivers state campaign whereby unknown gunmen attacked them, General Buhari did not let that deter him in carrying on his campaign further to the other states mentioned above. It was thoughtful of him to pay the victims a visit in the hospital after the campaign.

APC party has accused PDP party of the mishap and Gov. Rotimi Amechi of Rivers state, in his usual manner told Mr President to call his men to order.

PDP TAKES OVER LAGOS TODAY, KICKS OFF CAMPAIGN.

The members of the PDP party across the south west region of Nigeria are converging at or about now on the Tafawa Balewa  square ground in Lagos to flag off re-election campaign of President Goodluck Jonathan.

In his facebook message, the President invited every Nigerian to lagos which he referred to as the melting pot for all Nigerians. He urges all to be hopeful as his administration fulfils the dream of building a nation where peace and justice reign. He said his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian and he has always been moved by the power of love.

In today's campaign, Mr President promises not to dictate to anyone but to listen to every one. There will be dialogue and not monologue.

NIGER DELTA CAN COLLAPSE THE ECONOMY IF PRESIDENT JONATHAN LOSES ELECTION- Jimi Agbaje

The Lagos State governorship candidate of the ruling party, the PDP- Mr Jimi Agbaje has warned during a grand reception by his supporters in U.K , held recently in london, that if President Goodluck Jonathan fails to win in February 14 election, the South South can shut down the oil sector and this will affect Nigeria's economy which he says is oil dependent.
