MANUFACTURERS THREATEN TO SHUT DOWN OVER HIGH ELECTRICITY TARIFF

From January 1, 2015 the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission -NERC approved a new tariff for industrial and commercial consumers while freezing increase for residential consumers for six months.

The Steel manufacturing group of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria- MAN cried out about this new tariff order Multi year Tariff Order (MYTO 2.1) paralyzing the operational activities of most companies in the country. They therefore threatened to shut down their factories if the situation will continue. They made their stance known at a NERC stakeholders' meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
